Bucket List Trips: Alaska

One of the hottest trends in travel right now for all ages is Alaska. From solo 20-somethings to families to retired multi-generational groups, there’s a travel style suitable for everyone to America’s final frontier. I’ve answered some questions that I hear frequently so you can see just how attainable an Alaskan cruise is!

HOW DO I PICK THE RIGHT CRUISE?

One of the reasons to use a travel advisor, especially for an Alaskan cruise, is to ensure you get matched with just the right cruise line for the experience you want to have. On a budget? Many of the larger cruise lines sail to the main ports in Alaska. Want a more customized experience? We can select a smaller cruise line that can get you access to more remote, smaller ports.

We sailed with Regent Seven Seas throughout Alaska and the elevated experience was everything we could have wanted. Not only was the ship gorgeous, our staterooms expansive (complete with soaking tubs!) and food delicious, but our excursions were all included. It was so nice to be able to book one trip and choose from numerous excursion options at each port. We met sled dog puppies, went whale watching, and got up close to a glacier.

DO I HAVE TO FLY ALL THE WAY TO ALASKA?

Not if you don’t want to! You can cruise to roundtrip from ports like Seattle or Vancouver. You can also choose to fly to Anchorage and start your journey there. One-way cruises can often stop at more ports than roundtrip.

HOW DO I SEE THE WILDLIFE?

Many of the port destinations will offer excursions for wildlife experiences, but you can also go inland from Anchorage to really get a feel for life in Alaska. Did you know that you can ride a glass-roofed train into Denali National Park before your Alaskan cruise? Princess has excellent land & sea packages where you fly in a few days before your cruise, take the train into Denali, and stay in a beautiful lodge before heading to the port.

I DON’T WANT TO FEEL OUT OF PLACE - AM I THE RIGHT AGE FOR THE CRUISE?

There’s truly something for everyone! Disney Cruise Line sails to Alaska and is perfect for the whole family. Virgin Voyages, my favorite adults-only cruise line, has answered their guests’ requests and will now be sailing to Alaska later this year. From small luxury ships to large, family friendly cruises, let’s work together to find just the right one for you.

IS THIS SUMMER ALREADY SOLD OUT?

There’s still space on most sailings this summer. The best cabins and availability go quickly, so pre-planning is especially if you are planning to travel with a group. Reach out to me today to plan your Alaskan adventure!
